With Rebecca’s affinity for mathematics, she was able to take an eighth-grade math course while she was in seventh grade. Rebecca and her classmates read Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar in English class, unraveling the mysteries of Elizabethan English along the way. They studied the life of Louis Pasteur and grasped the importance of his discoveries in microbiology by conducting experiments in pasteurization. They explored opera and folk music and studied the lives of the world’s great composers. “You’re able to see how one subject affects so many other areas that you learn about,” says Rebecca. “It makes you realize how much one subject impacts all the rest.”
